How many times in our lives
have we believed ourselves to be untainted?
Living in a dignified poise
and an unstained suit.
How often have we been blamed
for infidelity,
for treachery,
for ruining others' lives?
How many times have we taken a bullet
and been reproached for it,
pulled someone out of the way of train
and slapped for it?
How many times have we survived,
stood strong
and been bent
to endure more?
And how many times have we only heard,
'you're weak'
because we have yelled outloud
or told 'you're inhuman'
because we haven't cried
but stood unflinchingly,
shocked inside,
calm outside.
How many times have we lived a life
of living death,
pulling together a remnants,
shattered because of someone else's mistakes!
How many times in the past
and how many times in the future
more are we willing to lie down
for the butter to slice off?
How many times are we willing
to destroy ourselves
for this world?
This world
where you are slain
because you are strong enough
to survive the knife...
This is the world
where words like love, honesty and trust
are either spoken by the victims
or the hypocrites.
A world where crocodile tears
are worshiped,
vulnerability rewarded,
strength slaughtered
and dignity rampled.
A world where
the feigners become lady
and sincere are called whores.
This, my dear, is a charitable world,
where the rich is expected to give alms
to the poor on account of his being unworthy of earning that money.
This is a society of sacrifice,
where the murderer is honoured,
the victim criticized
and murdered pitied.
This is an epitamy of talent,
where fame is granted
when the artist dies.
A world of fighters,
where the fighters are called 'impractical'
and the manipulators are called the 'makers of the peaceful country'.
This is the world we live in,
sacrifice ourselves for,
Wake up and smell the coffee, my fellow pariah,
for in retrospection,
if it were me,
I wouldn't want to be a martyr for this world!
