Why the Loneliness…

This is one of those moments
When life seems as confusing and unmanageable
As a silent sea beneath the starry sky.

There is no tempest
Yet there is no tide,
There is no light
Yet there are the stars.

There is purpose
Yet there is the confusion masking the will to work.
There is focus
Yet there is no energy to learn.

When solitary time starts feeling like isolation,
When alone stops being different from lonely,
When independence starts suffocating,
Clinginess takes over love.

Where is the ‘I’ll do it myself’ attitude,
Where is the ‘I like being with myself’ feeling?

Why being alone in the room
Feels like abandonment
Rather than optimum time to work?
Why the half hour break
When everyone walks their way
Reduces me to tears than inspire me to take the books out?

Why motivation is required to work,
What is the need for a pep talk
Every time I am left alone?

Why does it take every last bit of energy
To not feel helpless when alone?

This was not me,
This is not what I had wanted to be!

Then why the dependence
Why the need for company than just want?
Why do I need distractions
To keep my thoughts in check when work should be enough?

Where does this lead me
If it does lead me anywhere?
Where is the road I meant to take?
Where is the life I meant to live?
Why am I becoming a burden on those who love me?
Why am I becoming a liability than the pillar of strength?

Where is the maturity now?
Where did the independence of thought get lost?
Where is the sense of balance?

Where is the ‘I’…

For Forever...

Perhaps it's just better not to say
Perhaps there is nothing to say
just silence.

Silence that engulfs the mind
Silence that stretched on
Silence that is more beautiful than words
Silence more meaningful than worlds.

Who says it's a tragedy
It's nothing but inevitable.
Who feels it's agony
It's nothing but silent comprehension.

It's not the end, just a beginning of something new.
It's not a truth, just the ending of a methodical lie.

It's here, it's new
and for forever to come.

It exists, it survives
for deaths to come.

It screams in vain and falls silent in pain
and learns, just learns...
learns to live
learns to respect
learns to survive
learns to strengthen
learns to be,
unlike many in past,
immortal.

Short but beautiful,
lied but truthful,
honest but un-understood,
lies above all mountains,
sleeps below all oceans,
a small pact of hearts
that now are free to find its bounds...

P.S. I love you...

WHERE'S THE REASON?

Is this a lonely bush
I do not shed a single tear
for there is not a strength to waste.

I'm not alone
for I have myself.

I'm not lost
because I know where I am
And where I have to go.

But in this strange array of thoughtfulness
I have lost the answer
to the one question that matters the most.

'Who am I?'

My story has become so great
that I have become insignificant.
I'm not miserable
I've just lost my purpose.

Where the direction leads
I just appeared at a crisscross.
I know where to go
but I can't find the reason to go.

When mind loses its trajectory
when life becomes a meaningless 3-D.

I know the answer
but not the question.
I know the code
but the quest is lost.
I know my way
but the meaning has faded away.

And no I'm not lost
I have my senses
But no I can't win
because I don't see the reason to fight.

No I'm not alone
I have my thoughts
with a promise of sticking around forever.
I have my memories
that will last a lifetime.

I'm not friendless
I have my imagination.

I'm not a kid
but no I'm not mature.
I'm not dangling in mid air
my feet are firmly on the ground
But I've lost the ability to make them move.

I'm not mindless
but my mind's stopped working.

My story's become so great
that suddenly
I find myself insignificant...

FRIENDLESS!

A group of people
gathered in a circle
seemed familiar enough
for me to go and check.

As I moved closer,
I felt I was getting smaller,
tiny with every step I took.

Soon the group of students
seemed like a bunch of giants
all set to keep me out.

They were all there-
my friends,
or atleast that's what
I had thought they were.

They seemed alien,
as if in another world
close enough to touch
but still far away.

The sense of protection
I had always felt in their presence
was suddenly gone,
like Sun on a cloudy day.

The wave of depression
swept over me
pulling me under
and I felt my knees
hit the solid ground.

Was I so alone
in the whole world?
Was I so unacceptable
like a rotten apple?

Not part of any group
not the cloud of any sky,
not the friend of any worthy
and not the human of this world.

Screaming, I woke up
from the torturing nightmare.

BUT WAS IT REALLY A DREAM?

Maybe. Maybe not.
Somewhere deep down
I knew that I could
never be a part of the group
that intimidated my very existence.

Somewhere deep down
I knew I was alone,
friendless and lonely
without anyone to protect me.

Depression overtook me
and I screamed again
feeling that for the first time in a long time
I did not know what to expect the next day!
